Portree High takes Parliament's first Gaelic tour
Thursday, 08 October 2009

The fourth year modern studies pupils of Portree High School made history in the Scottish Parliament today (Thursday) by being the first group to take a free tour of the building in Gaelic.

Highlands and Islands SNP MSP Dave Thompson hosted the group in the Parliament and answered questions after they watched First Minister's Question Time in the chamber's public gallery.

Commenting, Dave said: "The students seemed very interested in seeing the building and learning about the work of an MSP.  Being a Gaelic enthusiast myself, I was delighted that they were able to take the tour in their language of choice.  I think it's excellent the SPCB has made tours so readily available and accessible to people across Scotland, from all walks of life.  I look forward to more schools taking advantage of this fantastic service and visiting their Parliament their way!"
